Since hitting the road in August 2022, Bertie has become a beloved part of the Southern Suburbs — serving up coffee, smiles and homemade treats at schools, markets and events.
Started by Michelle Tayler-Smith, what began as a side hustle has grown into a full-on mobile café, dishing up barista-style drinks from a professionally converted tuktuk.
In 2023, Bertie won KFM’s “Station’s Choice Award” — a proud moment for Michelle and the whole Bertie team. We’re grateful for the love, support and every single coffee that’s helped bring Bertie to life.
Bertie (our OG) is an Atul tuk tuk that’s been lovingly converted into a tiny-but-mighty mobile coffee shop – small in size, but packed with flavour, charm, and personality.
In 2023, we welcomed a second tuk tuk to the family – a quirky Piaggio Ape, fondly known as Bertie’s Italian cousin.
Together, the Berties are quite the sight (and sound!) to behold – spreading great coffee and good vibes wherever they roll.
In 2023, Bertie on the Go was honoured with KFM’s Best of the Cape Station’s Choice Award — a truly remarkable achievement that means the world to us.
It was a moment of recognition not just for the hard work and heart we’ve poured into this journey, but also for the incredible bond we’ve built with our community.
We’re deeply proud of how far Bertie on the Go has come, and we’re endlessly grateful to every single person who’s supported us from the very beginning — from grabbing a quick cup at the van to cheering us on along the way. Your love and loyalty continue to fuel everything we do.
